ABV Dilution Calculator
Enter a beverage volume and its current and target ABV to estimate the added water and final volume. The calculation is an approximation for mixing, not a laboratory measurement.
A QUICK WALKTHROUGH
How to use this tool
- Enter the current beverage volume in millilitres.
- Enter the current ABV and a lower target ABV, both from 0% to 100%.
- Review the estimated water addition and final volume.
The calculation
The estimate uses final volume = current volume × current ABV ÷ target ABV, then subtracts the current volume to estimate water to add. ABV percentages must use the same scale.
An approximation for mixing
Alcohol and water mixtures can contract, and ABV depends on measurement conditions such as temperature. The estimated volumes may therefore differ from a measured mixture. This tool does not measure or verify the finished ABV.

GOOD TO KNOW
Common questions
Why must the target ABV be lower?
This calculator estimates dilution by adding water. Adding water cannot raise the ABV, so the target must be greater than 0% and lower than the current value.
Is the final volume exact?
No. The formula is a useful estimate. Alcohol-water volume contraction and measurement conditions can change the measured result.
Is my input uploaded?
No. The calculation runs locally in your browser; the values are not uploaded or saved.
