A QUICK WALKTHROUGH

How to use this tool

  1. Enter up to 50,000 characters of text.
  2. Choose Remove accents to convert it in your browser.
  3. Review any ? placeholders, then copy or download the ASCII result.

Accent removal and explicit replacements

Canonical Unicode decomposition removes combining accents from Latin letter clusters. Common Latin letters that do not decompose, such as Æ, Ø, Ł, and ß, use explicit ASCII spellings; common curly quotes and dashes are mapped to ASCII punctuation. This is not a language-aware transliterator.

ASCII output without silent character loss

Every output character is ASCII. Non-ASCII whitespace becomes a regular space. Each unsupported non-ASCII code point, including non-Latin letters, combining marks attached to non-Latin scripts, and emoji components, becomes one ? and is counted in the status message. Review those replacements before using the result. Text stays in this browser; input is limited to 50,000 characters and output to 250,000.
