Amps to kVA Calculator
Enter current, RMS line voltage, phase system, and power factor to calculate kVA and corresponding kW.
Enter finite positive current and voltage, and a power factor from 0 to 1. For three-phase systems, voltage is line-to-line RMS voltage.

A QUICK WALKTHROUGH
How to use this tool
- Enter current and RMS line voltage.
- Choose single-phase or three-phase; three-phase voltage means line-to-line voltage.
- Enter power factor and calculate apparent power (kVA) and real power (kW).
Formula and phase assumption
Single-phase kVA = V×I/1000. Three-phase kVA = √3×Vline-to-line×I/1000. Voltage is RMS line voltage; three-phase voltage is line-to-line.
Power factor
Power factor does not change kVA, but it is used to show corresponding real power in kW. This calculator does not size conductors, breakers, generators, or equipment.

GOOD TO KNOW
Common questions
Does power factor change kVA?
No. It changes the displayed kW because kW = kVA × PF.
What voltage should I enter for three-phase?
Enter RMS line-to-line voltage, not phase-to-neutral voltage.
Is this an equipment-sizing tool?
No. It is a calculation aid and does not replace electrical design or safety review.
