Audio Bitrate Estimator

Enter duration, compressed bitrate, sample rate, bit depth, and channels to compare an encoded-size estimate with raw PCM audio size.

In-browser processingNo account requiredPrivacy details ↗

The compressed estimate keeps the duration × bitrate calculation. PCM bitrate = sample rate × bit depth × channels; raw PCM size = bitrate × duration ÷ 8. Compression ratio compares PCM bitrate with the entered compressed bitrate. Maximum duration is 240 hours. Typical PCM values: 44,100 Hz, 16 bits, 2 channels.

A QUICK WALKTHROUGH

How to use this tool

  1. Enter duration in seconds and the compressed bitrate in kbps (use 0 if you only need PCM results).
  2. Enter sample rate in Hz, bit depth in bits, and channel count.
  3. Compare the compressed estimate with PCM bitrate, raw PCM size, and compression ratio.

Estimate only

Compressed size is estimated as duration in seconds × bitrate in kbps × 1,000 ÷ 8. PCM bitrate is sample rate × bit depth × channels; raw PCM bytes are PCM bitrate × duration ÷ 8. The compression ratio compares PCM bitrate to the entered compressed bitrate. Container headers, metadata, padding, and codec behavior are excluded.

Size units

Decimal MB uses 1,000,000 bytes. Binary MiB uses 1,048,576 bytes. The tool does not inspect, read, or encode audio.

GOOD TO KNOW

Common questions

Will the actual file size match?

Not exactly. Headers, metadata, padding, codec behavior, VBR, and container overhead can change the final size.
