AVIF Converter
Choose an AVIF image, select an output format and maximum edge, adjust quality, then download the browser-rendered copy.
The first frame of an animated AVIF is exported.
A QUICK WALKTHROUGH
How to use this tool
- Choose one AVIF up to 20 MB and 12,000 pixels per side.
- Select PNG, JPEG, or WebP and a maximum output edge.
- Set quality for JPEG/WebP, convert locally, and download.
Browser-native decode
This tool relies on your browser AVIF decoder and Canvas encoders. Older or unsupported browsers show an error instead of a broken file.
Output limits and quality
The output is proportionally scaled down when it exceeds the selected maximum edge (original, 4096, or 8192 px); it is never enlarged. PNG is lossless; JPEG and WebP use the quality setting.
Known conversion loss
Animated AVIF exports only its first frame. Canvas output is 8-bit SDR, so HDR is tone-mapped to SDR, and AVIF metadata is not preserved.
GOOD TO KNOW
Common questions
Does it support animated AVIF?
It converts only the first frame to a still PNG, JPEG, or WebP.
What happens to HDR?
Canvas output is standard 8-bit SDR, so HDR is tone-mapped and not preserved.
Are metadata preserved?
No. The newly encoded output does not retain AVIF metadata.
Is my image uploaded?
No. Decode and encoding happen locally in your browser.
