Bit Depth Photography Calculator
Calculate levels per channel, optional RGB color combinations, and raw uncompressed image payload from dimensions and bit depth.
A QUICK WALKTHROUGH

Raw, uncompressed payload model
Bit depth means bits per channel. Grayscale uses one channel; RGB uses three. Levels/channel = 2^b; RGB combinations = 2^(3b). Payload bytes = width × height × channels × b ÷ 8. The result excludes headers, metadata, padding, and compression; bit-packed formats may have different storage rules.

GOOD TO KNOW
Common questions
Does the image size include file overhead?
No. It is only the raw sample payload; file headers, metadata, padding, and compression are excluded.
