Broken Anchor Link Finder
Paste rendered HTML up to 1 MiB. The browser parses it inertly, indexes IDs, and checks only href values beginning with #; external pages are never fetched.
A QUICK WALKTHROUGH
How to use this tool
- Paste rendered HTML up to 1 MiB.
- Run the local anchor check.
- Review missing targets, duplicate IDs, invalid escapes, and affected links.
Same-document scope
The checker inspects href values that begin with # and compares decoded fragment names with id attributes in the pasted HTML. It does not fetch external pages or claim to check a URL#fragment without that page content.
Inert local parsing
The pasted markup is parsed with DOMParser into an inert document. User HTML is never inserted into the tool page and scripts in the input are never executed.
Duplicate and invalid targets
Every id occurrence is indexed. A missing target, a target with duplicate IDs, and each affected link are reported separately; malformed percent escapes are reported as invalid fragments.
GOOD TO KNOW
Common questions
Does this fetch links?
No. It checks only same-document href values beginning with # against IDs in the pasted HTML.
What counts as a duplicate target?
An id used by two or more elements. Links to that decoded fragment are reported because their target is ambiguous.
Can it check another page’s URL#fragment?
Only if you paste that page’s rendered HTML. The tool does not fetch external pages.
