Chat Log Formatter
Paste simple chat lines such as “09:00 Maya: Morning” and format them as readable transcript blocks without uploading the conversation.
Paste chat lines to begin.
Plain text only. Time zones and platform-specific exports are not interpreted.
A QUICK WALKTHROUGH
How to use this tool
- Paste one chat entry per line; optional HH:MM times and indented continuation lines are supported.
- Choose block or compact output and format the transcript.
- Review speaker and message counts, then download the plain-text transcript.
A deliberately small parser
The formatter recognizes an optional HH:MM time, a speaker name followed by a colon, and the message after it. A line beginning with indentation continues the preceding message.
Wording stays intact
Message text is trimmed only at the outer edge of each parsed line and joined with a space for continuation lines. The tool does not guess time zones, identify platforms, or interpret platform-specific export formats.
Local plain-text output
Parsing, preview, statistics, and TXT download happen in this browser. Nothing from the pasted conversation is uploaded or stored by this page.
GOOD TO KNOW
Common questions
Can a line omit the time?
Yes. Use Speaker: message when no HH:MM time is available.
How do continuation lines work?
A line with leading whitespace is added to the previous message. It must follow a recognized speaker line.
Does this parse WhatsApp, Slack, or another export?
No. It accepts the small plain-text pattern described on the page and does not guess platform-specific export syntax or time zones.
