Neutral formulas only. Subscripts are 1–1000; up to 400 characters, 12 formulas, 30 elements and 4 parenthesis levels. Systems with multiple independent solutions are rejected. No reaction conditions or experimental instructions are provided.

A QUICK WALKTHROUGH

How to use this tool

  1. Separate formulas with + and sides with ->, →, or =.
  2. Use case-sensitive element symbols and optional parentheses, without initial coefficients.
  3. Balance and compare each element’s atom count.

Common questions

Can I balance ionic reactions or verify a reaction will occur?

No. Charges and electrons are excluded. Atom conservation alone does not establish whether a reaction occurs; only neutral formulas with one positive coefficient ratio are supported.
