Climbing Rope Elongation Calculator
Enter the rope length and the manufacturer or standard supplied elongation percentage. Choose whether the percentage is static or dynamic.
A QUICK WALKTHROUGH
How to use this tool
- Enter a rope length greater than zero.
- Enter an elongation percentage of zero or more and select its test type.
- Calculate the length increase and extended length.
Direct conversion
For supplied rope length L and elongation p, length increase is ΔL = L × p ÷ 100. Extended length is L + ΔL.
Test type matters
Keep the manufacturer or standard supplied test type explicit: static and dynamic elongation values describe different tests and must not be silently combined.
Scope
This is a unit conversion only. It does not predict clearance, impact, injury, anchor loads, or equipment safety.
GOOD TO KNOW
Common questions
Where does the percentage come from?
Use the manufacturer or applicable standard supplied static or dynamic elongation value.
Can static and dynamic values be combined?
No. Select and label the supplied test type; do not combine values.
Does the extended length predict clearance or safety?
No. It is a calculated length conversion only.
