A QUICK WALKTHROUGH
How to use this tool

- Check the answer and read the explanation before trying another question.
Four practice currencies
The page uses common built-in GBP, EUR, USD, and INR coin and note denominations. It displays local symbols and calculates with integer minor units.
Fewest coins uses optimization
Fewest-coins questions use dynamic programming over the available denominations. They do not rely on a greedy largest-first shortcut, which does not always produce the minimum count.
A bounded learning exercise
The lists cover common circulating denominations for practice. They do not model commemorative coins, regional special notes, cash rounding rules, exchange rates, or real-world payment acceptance.
GOOD TO KNOW
Common questions
Does largest-first always find the fewest coins?
No. The Fewest coins mode uses an optimization algorithm because greedy selection is not reliable for every denomination set.
Which currencies are included?
GBP, EUR, USD, and INR use built-in common coin and note denominations shown by the page.
Is this a cash or banking calculator?
No. It is a local practice exercise and does not convert currencies, advise on payments, or model every regional denomination.
