Angles are measured counterclockwise in degrees. Inputs are limited to 1,000,000,000 in magnitude and 360,000° in angle.

A QUICK WALKTHROUGH

How to use this tool

  1. Choose rectangular a + bi input or polar magnitude and angle input.
  2. Enter both complex numbers.
  3. Review sums, differences, products, quotients, and polar conversions.

Two equivalent forms

Rectangular form is a + bi. Polar form is magnitude ∠ angle, with the angle in degrees. Results include rectangular values and the corresponding magnitude and principal argument.

Zero and division by zero

The argument of zero is undefined. When the second complex number is zero, addition, subtraction, and multiplication remain available, while the quotient is reported as undefined.

GOOD TO KNOW

Common questions

Which operations are included?

Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of two complex numbers.

How is the angle measured?

In degrees counterclockwise from the positive real axis, within the principal range -180° to 180°.
