- Efficiency = actual inlet volume flow / theoretical swept flow × 100%. Actual flow may be zero; swept flow must be positive. Use the same volume and time units, inlet state and reference basis. A value above 100% is retained: review units and any standard-state conversion. Pressure ratio alone cannot predict performance.
