CSV Row Counter
Paste comma-separated data to count records. Quoted commas, embedded line breaks, and escaped double quotes are parsed as CSV syntax.
LOCAL CSV COUNTING
CSV Row Counter
Count CSV data records locally, with optional header handling and blank-record filtering.
A QUICK WALKTHROUGH
How to use this tool
- Paste or enter comma-separated CSV text up to 2 MB.
- Choose whether the first parsed record is a header and whether blank records should be ignored.
- Count the remaining data records locally in your browser.
CSV record parsing
A record may contain commas, physical line breaks, and escaped double quotes inside a double-quoted field. LF, CRLF, and CR line endings are accepted. The delimiter is always a comma.
Header and blank-record choices
The first parsed record can be excluded as a header. Blank records are records whose fields contain no non-whitespace text; choose whether to exclude them from the count.
Defined limits and malformed input
Input is limited to 2 MB, 50,000 parsed records, and 500 fields per record. Unclosed quotes or characters after a closing quote are rejected. This does not detect every application-specific CSV dialect, comments, alternate delimiters, or encoding rules; text is read locally in the browser.
GOOD TO KNOW
Common questions
Does a line break inside quotes create another record?
No. A line break inside a quoted field stays in that field and does not increase the record count.
Can the first record be counted as data?
Yes. Clear the header option to count the first parsed record.
Are blank lines ignored?
They are counted or ignored according to the blank-record option. A record is blank when all its fields contain only whitespace.
Is my CSV uploaded?
No. The input is parsed and counted in your browser.
