CSV Type Detector

Paste CSV data to inspect likely column types and exact exception rows.

A QUICK WALKTHROUGH

How to use this tool

  1. Paste CSV including its header row.
  2. Choose automatic date handling or explicitly select month/day or day/month.
  3. Review each column type and its exception rows.

Explainable type inference

Columns are classified as integer, decimal, date, boolean, or text using non-empty values. The report lists the sample count and every empty or incompatible cell as an exception.

Date convention is explicit

ISO dates are recognized directly. Ambiguous slash dates are not used to infer a convention; choose month/day or day/month to interpret them. This is a read-only report, not a schema guarantee.

GOOD TO KNOW

Common questions

Why might numbers be treated as text?

Currency symbols, grouping separators, spaces, or other values can prevent a clean numeric type. The exception list shows the exact cells.

How are ambiguous dates handled?

Choose month/day or day/month. With automatic handling, ambiguous values remain exceptions.

Does it change or upload the CSV?

No. It reports inferred types locally and leaves the input unchanged.
