Exponents Calculator
Enter a finite base and exponent to calculate a real power locally in your browser.
A QUICK WALKTHROUGH
How to use this tool
- Enter a base and exponent in decimal or scientific notation.
- Calculate the power.
- Review the result, precision, and any domain or range message.
Supported real-number domain
Bases and exponents must be finite numbers. Negative exponents are supported except for a zero base. Fractional exponents are supported for non-negative bases; a negative base with a non-integer exponent is rejected because its result is complex or not real.
Limits and precision
The base is limited to −10¹⁰⁰ through 10¹⁰⁰ and the exponent to −1,000 through 1,000. Results use browser IEEE 754 Number arithmetic and display up to 15 significant digits. Overflow and non-zero underflow are reported.
Local calculation
Parsing, validation, and arithmetic happen in your browser. Inputs are not uploaded or stored.
GOOD TO KNOW
Common questions
Are negative exponents supported?
Yes. They return the reciprocal power, except that zero cannot have a negative exponent.
Are fractional exponents supported?
Yes for a non-negative base. A fractional exponent on a negative base is outside the real-number contract and is rejected.
Does it calculate complex numbers?
No. Complex results are not evaluated; the tool reports when a real result does not exist.
