Field Work Rate Calculator
Enter implement width, field speed, efficiency and area to estimate effective coverage rate and work time.
A QUICK WALKTHROUGH
How to use this tool
- Choose metric or US customary units.
- Enter working width, travel speed, field efficiency and area.
- Review theoretical and effective field capacity plus estimated time.
Formula and public source
Metric theoretical field capacity in ha/h = width (m) × speed (km/h) / 10; effective field capacity = theoretical capacity × field efficiency as a fraction. For US customary units, acres/h = width (ft) × speed (mph) / 8.25 × efficiency. Iowa State University Extension explains theoretical and effective field capacity and defines field efficiency as their ratio: https://www.extension.iastate.edu/agdm/crops/pdf/a3-24.pdf .
Estimate limits
The result assumes the entered speed and efficiency represent the operation. Actual coverage also changes with field shape, turns, refill, adjustment, delays and operator conditions. Time is estimated for the entered area; travel, setup, service, weather and non-field time are excluded.

GOOD TO KNOW
Common questions
What does field efficiency include?
It is a user-entered ratio of effective to theoretical field capacity and can account for field delays and unused working width. Use a representative value for the operation.
Does this estimate include road travel or setup?
No. It estimates field operation time only from the supplied area and effective capacity.
Can I compare machines with this?
You can compare scenarios using consistent assumptions. It is not a machine performance guarantee.
