Teaching formulas
GDP deflator = nominal GDP ÷ real GDP × 100. Simplified real GDP = nominal GDP ÷ (deflator ÷ 100). Growth rate = (current ÷ prior − 1) × 100.

No. It is a teaching rearrangement of the deflator relationship, not the BEA chain-type quantity measure.
