Limits and metadata

GIFs are limited to 20 MB, 120 frames, 1,600 pixels per side, 1.92 megapixels per frame, 100 megapixels total, and 80 MB of generated PNG and ZIP output. PNG files do not preserve GIF frame delay metadata, palettes, animation controls, or other source metadata. This browser must support ImageDecoder for GIFs in a secure context.

Common questions

Are frame delays preserved?

No. This tool creates individual PNG images and does not write GIF timing metadata.

Does extraction upload my GIF?

No. Decoding and PNG/ZIP creation happen locally in your browser.
