Heat Pump Running Cost

Enter your annual useful heat demand, assumed seasonal COP (SCOP), and electricity price per kWh. The calculator divides heat demand by SCOP, then multiplies electricity use by your price.

Use your own heat demand, seasonal COP and electricity rate. Costs use the currency of your rate and exclude fixed charges, installation, and maintenance. Actual performance may differ.

A QUICK WALKTHROUGH

How to use this tool

  1. Enter annual useful heat demand in kWh.
  2. Enter your seasonal COP and electricity price per kWh.
  3. Calculate annual electricity use and cost.

Your assumptions

SCOP is the assumed ratio of useful heat delivered to electricity consumed over a season. Use an assumption appropriate to your own records; this tool does not retrieve tariffs, weather, or equipment performance.

Estimate scope

The result covers only electricity represented by your heat demand and SCOP, in the currency of your rate. It excludes standing charges, maintenance, installation, and other costs. It does not predict actual performance or size equipment.

GOOD TO KNOW

Common questions

Is this a guaranteed running cost?

No. It is arithmetic based on your inputs. Actual heat demand, seasonal performance, and prices can differ.
