Explicit input and output boundaries
This version accepts recognized HEIC-family brands in a HEIC or HEIF container, up to 12 MB. It deliberately does not accept generic HEIF/MIAF or AVIF files. Multi-image sources can produce only the first image. The result is a new JPEG, so source metadata, animation, and the original HEIC encoding are not preserved.
Browser memory and image-size guardrails
After decoding, output is limited to 10,000 pixels per side and 40 megapixels. Very large camera images can still exceed the memory available to a browser. Review the downloaded JPG in the target app when colour handling, orientation, or exact camera metadata matters.

Does the page upload my HEIC photo?
No. Container checks, decoding, JPG encoding, previewing, and downloading all run in the current browser.
Which HEIC files are supported?
The tool checks for common HEIC-family brands such as heic, heix, hevc, and hevx. It rejects generic HEIF/MIAF and AVIF files rather than pretending they are supported.
Can I keep EXIF or GPS metadata?
No. The browser produces a new JPEG bitmap and does not copy the source metadata fields.
Why did a HEIC file fail to convert?
The file may use an unsupported codec variant, exceed the declared limits after decoding, or need more browser memory than is available. Use a compatible export or a smaller original.
