A bounded, repeatable sample
The tool reads the browser-decoded canvas pixels and samples every nth pixel when an image exceeds 100,000 pixels, keeping the sample at or below that limit. Sampling starts at the first pixel and proceeds in row-major canvas order.
Transparent pixels are handled explicitly
Fully transparent pixels contribute no color. Partially transparent pixels contribute their RGB channels weighted by alpha; average alpha is calculated across all sampled pixels and shown separately. This keeps invisible canvas padding from pulling the color toward black.
Local and bounded by design
JPEG, PNG, and WebP files are decoded with Canvas in your browser. Files are limited to 20 MB and 40 megapixels for predictable memory use. No image upload or server processing is used.
