Defined absolute URL scope
The editor accepts absolute hierarchical URLs using http, https, ftp, ws, or wss. Relative paths, opaque schemes such as mailto and data, and URLs containing a username or password are rejected. Hostnames are normalized by the browser URL parser, including lowercase and IDN-to-ASCII conversion; default ports can disappear because they are equivalent to the protocol default. An origin-only input records whether it visibly included its root slash.
Ordered query rows with browser encoding
Query parameters are decoded into ordered key/value rows. Duplicate keys remain separate and keep their order. Blank keys are omitted when rebuilding; all other keys and values pass through URLSearchParams, which percent-encodes reserved data and represents spaces with plus signs. Editing the path and fragment uses the browser URL setters, so their required encoding is normalized. The input and rebuilt URL are limited to 20,000 UTF-16 characters and the query list to 200 rows.

Can I edit a relative URL?
No. Enter a complete URL with a supported protocol and hostname so every component has an unambiguous meaning.
Are duplicate query keys preserved?
Yes. Each occurrence is a separate row, and the rebuilt URL keeps retained rows in their displayed order.
Why did the hostname or port change?
The browser applies WHATWG URL normalization. Internationalized domains become ASCII Punycode, hostnames are lowercased, and a protocol’s default port is omitted.
