- Set a start time, a clip up to 12 seconds, and 1–10 frames per second; the page shows the resulting frame count.
- Create the GIF, review the animation and file details, then download the real image/gif result.
A real GIF, not a renamed video
Browsers can decode video frames but do not offer a native GIF encoder. This page reuses the site’s bounded GIF89a and LZW encoder for each sampled Canvas frame, then checks the GIF signature and image/gif MIME type before offering the download.
Short clips keep the browser responsive
Input is limited to 100 MB. A clip can run for 0.1–12 seconds at 1–10 fps, with no more than 120 frames. The output canvas is automatically fitted to a 640-pixel longest side and 307,200 pixels per frame; the complete GIF remains in browser memory during the current session and is capped at 80 MB.
Color and compatibility boundaries
GIF supports at most 256 colors. The local encoder uses one fixed palette and opaque white frames, so gradients and subtle colors can simplify. The selected video must be decodable by the current browser; a supported filename alone cannot guarantee codec support.

Does the video leave my device?
No. The source video, decoded frames, GIF encoder, preview, and download remain in your current browser session. Refreshing, clearing, or leaving the page releases the local file URLs.
Why is my GIF smaller than the source video?
The GIF canvas is fitted to a modest pixel limit so a sampled multi-frame export can complete in browser memory. GIF files can still be larger than a compressed video, especially with movement or detailed frames.
Why can’t every MP4 or MOV be read?
The container extension does not determine codec support. This page requires the browser to decode the selected video and reports a clear error when its metadata or frames cannot be read.
