Journey Time Calculator

A planning estimate using distance, average speed, and stop minutes. It does not use addresses, routes, or traffic services. Marine arithmetic supplies no route, weather, currents, vessel safety or arrival prediction. Enter your own distance and average speed.

Planning estimate

Use matching distance and speed units. This arithmetic estimate does not choose a route or account for traffic, road conditions or safe driving decisions.

t₁ = d ÷ v; t₂ = t₁ + tₛ ÷ 60

Enter distance, average speed and planned stop time.

A QUICK WALKTHROUGH

How to use this tool

  1. Enter a positive distance and average speed in matching units.
  2. Add stop minutes if needed.
  3. Review driving time and total elapsed time; solve the relationship yourself when planning from a target time.

Planning estimate

This browser-only calculator applies distance ÷ average speed and adds your stop minutes. Keep distance and speed units consistent.

Clear boundary

It does not geocode addresses, choose a route, account for traffic, or predict arrival conditions. Reverse planning uses the same relationship: distance = speed × driving time.

Marine time arithmetic

Marine hours = nautical miles / knots. Stop minutes are added separately; 0 means no planned stops. Changing unit mode clears distance, speed and stops so previous values are not silently reinterpreted. Marine arithmetic supplies no route, weather, currents, vessel safety or arrival prediction. Enter your own distance and average speed. Marine example: 24 nmi / 8 kn, 0 stop minutes = 3 hours. This is arithmetic, not navigation advice.

GOOD TO KNOW

Common questions

Does it use maps or traffic?

No. It is a local arithmetic estimate with no address, route, or traffic service.

Can I plan from a target time?

Yes. Use distance = speed × driving time, or speed = distance ÷ driving time, after subtracting planned stops.
