JSON Unstringify Tool
Paste a JSON value containing escaped JSON strings, choose a parse limit, and unwrap only JSON.parse-compatible values in your browser.
A QUICK WALKTHROUGH
How to use this tool
- Paste JSON up to 100,000 characters.
- Choose the maximum number of recursive parses (1–10).
- Unstringify the root and nested string values, then copy the result.
Bounded JSON.parse only
The tool uses JSON.parse and JSON.stringify. It never evaluates pasted text as JavaScript, calls a function, or uses eval. Each value is parsed at most 10 rounds.
Root and nested strings
A JSON string that contains another complete JSON value is unwrapped. String values inside objects and arrays are handled recursively; ordinary text remains text.
Local and size limited
Input is limited to 100,000 characters and the recursion limit is explicit. Processing, copying, and downloads stay in your browser.
GOOD TO KNOW
Common questions
What does unstringify mean here?
It parses JSON string values when their contents are themselves valid JSON, turning escaped JSON into structured values.
Can it run code?
No. Only JSON.parse and JSON.stringify are used; JavaScript expressions are never evaluated.
What happens when the limit is reached?
The tool reports the limit and leaves the remaining string value unchanged, so deeply nested input cannot run indefinitely.
