Marine Irregular Tank Volume Calculator

Estimate tank volume with the trapezoidal rule from user-supplied cross-sectional areas at equally spaced stations.

Station

Number of stations: 2

All stations must have the same spacing. You supply measured local areas in m²; the tool does not infer tank shape. The trapezoidal approximation models area linearly between stations and does not certify capacity or usable contents.

A QUICK WALKTHROUGH

How to use this tool

  1. Enter the common positive spacing between stations in metres.
  2. Enter 2–100 cross-sectional areas in order, including both end stations.
  3. Calculate m³ and litres, then copy or download the report.

Formula and units

Volume (m³) = spacing (m) × [first area/2 + sum of interior areas + last area/2]. Litres = volume (m³) × 1000.

Scope

All stations must have the same spacing. You supply measured local areas in m²; the tool does not infer tank shape. The trapezoidal approximation models area linearly between stations and does not certify capacity or usable contents.

GOOD TO KNOW

Common questions

Can I enter unequal station gaps?

No. One spacing applies to every adjacent pair. This tool does not integrate stations with unequal gaps.
