Paint Area Calculator

Estimate paint volume from a known painted area, editable coverage and number of coats, in metric or US units.

In-browser processingNo account requiredPrivacy details ↗

Coverage defaults are rough references only: 10 m²/L or 375 ft²/US gal (within the 350–400 reference range). Edit coverage using your paint label and surface conditions. The area must already exclude openings you do not paint. This estimate applies the same coverage to every coat; it does not add waste, primer, or allowances for texture and absorption.

V = A ÷ r × c

Changing the unit system clears the area and restores its reference coverage. Enter area and coverage in the selected matching units; no area value is converted automatically. Results show up to 10 significant digits; paint volume conversion uses 1 US gal = 3.785411784 L.

GOOD TO KNOW

Common questions

Are the reference coverage values guaranteed?

No. Actual coverage varies by paint and surface. Replace the reference with the product coverage; the formula is area ÷ coverage × coats.
