PDF Chapter Bookmark Auto-Detector

Paste one heading per line. This tool does not read or modify PDF files; it only creates local candidates.

A QUICK WALKTHROUGH

How to use this tool

  1. Extract or copy heading text using your PDF workflow.
  2. Paste one heading per line.
  3. Detect and review bookmark candidates.

Text candidates only

This tool accepts pasted extracted text. It does not open PDFs, inspect page locations, or write bookmarks back into a document.

Local and reviewable

Candidates are generated in the browser as JSON with title, level, and source line. Numbered headings determine nesting hints; review them before using another PDF workflow.

GOOD TO KNOW

Common questions

Does it read a PDF file?

No. Paste extracted heading text; no PDF file access is implemented.

Does it write bookmarks automatically?

No. It only returns candidates for review or use elsewhere.

How are levels inferred?

A heading beginning with numbering such as 2.1 gets a deeper level based on its dot segments; other lines are level 1.
