A QUICK WALKTHROUGH

How to use this tool

  1. Enter the app name, short name, and start URL.
  2. Choose a display mode and theme and background colors.
  3. Copy or download the JSON, then add your own icon files and link the manifest from your HTML.

Core web app manifest fields

The output includes name, short_name, start_url, display, theme_color, background_color, and two example icon entries for 192 and 512 pixel PNG files. Use a start URL within the deployed app and replace both icon paths with actual assets.

A manifest is one part of a PWA

This tool creates JSON text. It does not generate icons, add a manifest link to your site, create a service worker, configure offline caching, or verify browser installation requirements. Review the paths and test the finished site in its target browsers.

GOOD TO KNOW

Common questions

Does this create icon images?

No. The JSON contains example paths for 192 and 512 pixel PNG icons. Create those assets and update the paths before using the manifest.

Does a manifest make my site a PWA?

No. A manifest is only one part. Your site may also need a service worker, suitable deployment, and browser-specific installation requirements.

Where should I save and link the JSON?

Save the copied output as manifest.json at the path you choose, then add a link rel="manifest" element in your document head that points to it.

Is my app information uploaded?

No. The manifest draft is generated in this browser.
