Quoted-Printable Encoder and Decoder
Switch between encoding and decoding. The encoder wraps lines at 76 characters; the decoder joins soft line breaks and reads UTF-8 bytes.
Quoted-Printable converter
Up to 100,000 input characters and 500,000 output characters. Encoded lines are at most 76 characters.
Choose a mode and enter content to convert.
A QUICK WALKTHROUGH
How to use this tool
- Choose Encode or Decode.
- Paste text or Quoted-Printable content, then convert it.
- Review and copy the result. Processing stays in this browser.
MIME Quoted-Printable rules
Encoding represents UTF-8 bytes outside the printable ASCII range as =XX, escapes equals signs, and encodes spaces or tabs at the ends of lines. It wraps at 76 characters with a trailing equals sign and CRLF soft break. Existing line breaks become CRLF.
Strict local decoding
Decoding removes CRLF or LF soft breaks, ignores trailing spaces or tabs added during email transport, converts valid =XX byte escapes, and decodes the bytes as UTF-8. Malformed escapes and invalid UTF-8 are reported instead of being silently replaced. Hard line breaks are returned as LF for convenient editing. Input is limited to 100,000 characters and output to 500,000 characters.
GOOD TO KNOW
Common questions
Does this handle Unicode?
Yes. Text is encoded as UTF-8 bytes first, so accented letters and emoji may become multiple =XX sequences.
What does a trailing equals sign mean?
At the end of a MIME line, = followed by a line break is a soft break. It joins the next line without adding a newline to the decoded text.
Why does decoding reject some input?
This tool expects valid Quoted-Printable escapes and UTF-8 bytes. It reports malformed escapes or invalid UTF-8 rather than guessing how to repair them.
Is my text uploaded?
No. Encoding and decoding run entirely in this browser.
