Record Matching Assistant
Paste one record per line, set a similarity threshold, and review local suggestions without automatic merging.
A QUICK WALKTHROUGH
How to use this tool
- Paste bounded records, one per line.
- Choose a normalized similarity threshold.
- Review suggested pairs and decide manually.
Explicit matching rules
Text is trimmed, lowercased, and punctuation/whitespace runs are removed for normalized exact comparison. Other pairs use normalized Levenshtein similarity: 1 − distance / max length.
Suggestions only
A match is a potential duplicate, not proof of identity. The tool never merges, deletes, edits, or chooses a canonical record. Review every pair yourself.
Local bounds
Input is limited to 1,000 non-empty lines and 100,000 UTF-16 code units. Records stay in this browser.
GOOD TO KNOW
Common questions
Does it merge duplicates?
No. It only suggests pairs for manual review.
What does the threshold mean?
A value from 0 to 1; pairs at or above it are shown. Exact normalized matches score 1.
Does normalization change my records?
No. It is used only for comparison; displayed records remain unchanged.
