A QUICK WALKTHROUGH

How to use this tool

  1. Paste Markdown up to 100,000 characters.
  2. Remove the supported formatting locally.
  3. Review, copy, or download the plain-text result.

Supported syntax

Handles ATX headings, blockquote prefixes, unordered and ordered list markers, emphasis and strikethrough markers, inline code, fenced code markers, links, images, and raw HTML tags. Link destinations and image URLs are removed.

Known limits

This is a focused formatter remover, not a complete CommonMark or Markdown extension parser. Nested edge cases, tables, reference links, task-list state, HTML blocks, and unknown extensions may remain as text. Input is limited to 100,000 characters and output to 200,000 characters.

Local processing

Conversion, copying, and download happen in this browser. No URL is fetched and no text is uploaded or stored.

GOOD TO KNOW

Common questions

Does it support all Markdown?

No. It supports only the syntax listed above and does not claim full CommonMark or extension coverage.

Are links fetched?

No. Link labels remain, but destinations are discarded without network access.

Can I download the result?

Yes. Copy it or download remove-markdown-formatting.txt.
