Ridge Tile Calculator
Estimate straight or separate ridge runs using your tile size, overlap and waste allowance.
A QUICK WALKTHROUGH
How to use this tool
- Choose the input layout, units and required model.
- Enter your dimensions and product values; read the model conditions.
- Calculate and review every segment and total, then copy or download the frozen report.
Quantity model
Effective cover = nominal tile length − overlap. Each run rounds up separately; waste rounds up once on the summed base count. Optional end and cap tiles are added afterward. Coverage surplus uses ordinary ridge tiles only.
Inputs
Use positive ridge and tile lengths; 0 ≤ overlap < tile length. Waste is required and may be zero. Optional cap/end counts must be whole, nonnegative; blank means zero. Segmented rows contain one length. This arithmetic does not specify fixing or weather performance.
Exact decimals and reduced fractions; all ceilings use BigInt rational arithmetic. Inputs must remain in the finite numeric range; nonzero underflow is rejected.
Calculations stay in your browser. No manufacturer dimensions, material densities or structural assumptions are supplied.

Common questions
How are quantities rounded?
Effective cover = nominal tile length − overlap. Each run rounds up separately; waste rounds up once on the summed base count. Optional end and cap tiles are added afterward. Coverage surplus uses ordinary ridge tiles only.
Which values must I supply?
Use positive ridge and tile lengths; 0 ≤ overlap < tile length. Waste is required and may be zero. Optional cap/end counts must be whole, nonnegative; blank means zero. Segmented rows contain one length. This arithmetic does not specify fixing or weather performance.
Does this certify construction suitability?
