Semaphore Flag Translator
Convert text to sender-view flag positions or decode semicolon-separated positions back into text, entirely in your browser.
Unknown symbols are shown as unknown; punctuation is not guessed. Semaphore positions use sender view; # is the numeric sign and A–J encode 1–0.
A QUICK WALKTHROUGH
How to use this tool
- Choose text-to-flags or flags-to-text.
- For encoding, enter letters and digits; for decoding, separate flag positions with semicolons.
- Translate locally and review unknown characters or positions.
Letters, digits, and control words
The tool maps A–Z to sender-view left and right flag positions. Digits use the NUMERIC SIGN followed by the A–J positions for 1–0, and ANNUL ends numeric mode.
Unknown characters
Spaces and line breaks receive visible separators. Punctuation and unrecognized flag positions are marked unknown rather than guessed.
Local translation
Translation runs in the browser and does not upload the entered text.
GOOD TO KNOW
Common questions
How are digits encoded?
A NUMERIC SIGN starts numeric mode; A–J represent 1–0, and ANNUL returns to letters.
Are punctuation marks translated?
No. Punctuation is reported as unknown rather than assigned a guessed flag position.
How should I enter flag positions for decoding?
Separate each position with a semicolon, using the displayed sender-view labels.
