Solar Panel Tilt Angle Calculator
Estimate latitude tilt or solar-noon geometry using supplied declination or a date.
A QUICK WALKTHROUGH
How to use this tool
- Choose a method and explicit units.
- Enter your own measured or model parameters.
- Calculate, inspect the table, then copy or download the frozen report.
Scope and assumptions
Annual tilt |latitude| is only a rough planning rule. Solar-noon tilt |latitude − declination| faces the noon sun; solar noon is not clock noon. NOAA fractional-year declination is evaluated at noon, using 365 or 366 days. Elevation ≤ 0° means no sun above the horizon; tilt is unavailable then. At zenith azimuth is undefined; at the equator annual orientation has no preferred hemisphere. Longitude, weather, shading and annual energy yield are not optimized.

Common questions
How are inputs processed?
Calculations run in your browser. Editing any field clears the previous result and report.
What precision is reported?
The table uses 12 significant digits; the report also records unrounded numeric values.
