Enter a gas volumetric flow in m³/h at stated conditions and the catalyst-bed volume in m³. The output is a gas-volume throughput ratio in h⁻¹.

GHSV = Q / Vbed. Enter finite positive flow and bed volume. The flow must already be expressed at the temperature/pressure basis you state; no standard-to-actual gas-volume conversion is performed. Use the entire catalyst-bed volume on a consistent geometric basis, not catalyst mass or solid-particle volume. This tool does not calculate WHSV, LHSV, residence time, catalyst performance, conversion, or reactor selection.

A QUICK WALKTHROUGH

How to use this tool

  1. Enter your own values in the units shown.
  2. State the shared temperature and pressure basis with units.
  3. Calculate the estimate. Editing inputs clears the previous result.

Common questions

Where do the input values come from?

You supply every value and are responsible for its units, definition and conditions. No material properties or operating values are selected for you.
