A QUICK WALKTHROUGH
How to use this tool
- Paste text.
- Review character and digit counts, words, longest and shortest words, average length, lines, and estimated sentences.
- Edit the text and watch the local statistics update.
Counting rules
Characters are Unicode code points, shown with and without whitespace. Words are non-empty sequences separated by Unicode whitespace, with punctuation retained. Longest, shortest, and average word lengths use those tokens and Unicode code points; ties keep the first token. Empty input has no shortest word and an average length of 0. Lines use LF, CRLF, or CR separators.
Digit counts
ASCII digits count only 0–9, while Unicode decimal digits count every Nd character.
Sentence and word limitations
Sentence count is a heuristic based on periods, exclamation marks, question marks, and ellipses. English abbreviations, quotations, and other languages may produce different results because word and sentence boundaries are language-dependent.

GOOD TO KNOW
Common questions
Are spaces counted?
The tool shows separate counts with whitespace and without whitespace.
What is the difference between the digit counts?
ASCII counts only 0–9; Unicode decimal digits include all characters with the Unicode Nd property.
How are average and shortest word length calculated?
Tokens are split on Unicode whitespace and measured in Unicode code points. The average is the arithmetic mean; the first token wins shortest ties.
Is sentence count exact?
No. It is a transparent punctuation-based heuristic estimate.
