A QUICK WALKTHROUGH

How to use this tool

  1. Paste text and choose lines, words, or characters.
  2. Shuffle the selected units.
  3. Review and copy the randomized text.

Units and whitespace

Lines split on LF or CRLF and keep their internal whitespace. Words use Unicode word segmentation when available; whitespace and punctuation are retained as separate tokens and are shuffled too. Characters mean Unicode code points from Array.from, so combining marks and some emoji sequences may be separated.

Randomness

The tool uses crypto.getRandomValues with rejection sampling for unbiased indexes when available, then falls back to Math.random if the browser has no Web Crypto API.

Local limits

Input is limited to 100,000 UTF-16 code units. Nothing is uploaded.

GOOD TO KNOW

Common questions

Are emoji treated as one character?

No. Character mode shuffles Unicode code points, not grapheme clusters; a multi-code-point emoji sequence can be split.

Does word mode keep spaces in place?

No. Whitespace and punctuation are tokens and move with the shuffle.

Is the output reproducible?

No. Each shuffle draws fresh random values.
