How to use this tool

- Treat a passing result as a format check only; it does not prove that an account exists or can receive or send funds.
Country table and coverage
Country lengths and names are copied from validate-iban.utils.com, retrieved 2026-10-07. This implementation covers the 73 country codes listed there: AL, AD, AT, AZ, BH, BY, BE, BA, BR, BG, CR, HR, CY, CZ, DK, DO, TL, EE, FO, FI, FR, GE, DE, GI, GR, GL, GT, HU, IS, IQ, IE, IL, IT, JO, KZ, XK, KW, LV, LB, LI, LT, LU, MK, MT, MR, MU, MC, MD, ME, NL, NO, PK, PS, PL, PT, QA, RO, SM, SA, RS, SC, SK, SI, ES, SE, CH, TN, TR, UA, AE, GB, VA, VG. Unknown or uncovered country codes are rejected; no length is inferred from the first two letters.
Checks performed
Spaces are removed and letters are uppercased locally. The tool requires letters and digits only after normalization, checks the country-specific total length and numeric check digits, then moves the first four characters to the end, converts A=10 through Z=35, and checks that the streamed remainder modulo 97 is 1.
Privacy and limits
The IBAN stays in this browser. It is not uploaded, saved, logged, looked up, or used to contact a bank. A passing format and checksum check does not prove that the bank account exists, belongs to anyone, is open, or can be used for a transaction.

Common questions
Does a valid result prove the account exists?
No. It only checks the supported country format, length, characters, and MOD-97 checksum. It does not verify an account, bank, owner, balance, or transaction capability.
Can I include spaces?
Yes. Spaces are removed locally before validation; other punctuation is rejected.
Which countries are covered?
The 73 codes listed in the Country table and coverage section, copied from validate-iban.utils.com on 2026-10-07. Codes outside that list are rejected.
Is my IBAN sent anywhere?
No. The input is processed in this browser and is not uploaded, stored, logged, or queried.
