A QUICK WALKTHROUGH

How to use this tool

  1. Enter measured LUFS and target LUFS.
  2. Calculate the dB difference and linear gain factor.
  3. Check sample peaks and true peak before applying the gain in an editor.

Calculation

Gain adjustment in dB = target LUFS − measured LUFS. The equivalent linear amplitude factor is 10^(gain dB ÷ 20). Results display to two dB decimals and four factor decimals.

Peak and true-peak caveat

This calculator does not inspect audio. Applying positive gain can cause sample clipping or inter-sample true-peak overs. Check peak and true-peak meters and reduce gain or use a limiter when required.

Calculation only and local privacy

No audio or video file is accepted or processed. The two numeric inputs stay in the browser and are not uploaded.

GOOD TO KNOW

Common questions

Does this normalize my video?

No. It calculates the gain adjustment only; apply it in an audio or video editor.

Can positive gain clip?

Yes. Check sample peaks and true peak before applying any positive gain.

Why is the linear factor useful?

It represents the amplitude multiplier corresponding to the dB gain.
