A QUICK WALKTHROUGH

How to use this tool

  1. Enter a non-negative speed and choose its input unit.
  2. Review all five unit values and the matching Beaufort force.
  3. Copy the complete result locally.

Units and precision

Supports km/h, mph, m/s, knots, and ft/s. Factors are 1 mph = 1.60934 km/h, 1 knot = 1.852 km/h, 1 m/s = 3.6 km/h, and 1 ft/s = 1.09728 km/h. Results are rounded to one decimal place.

Beaufort boundaries

The matching force uses km/h bands with inclusive lower bounds: 0, 1, 5, 11, 19, 28, 38, 49, 61, 74, 88, 102, and 118 km/h for forces 0–12. A value belongs to the highest threshold it reaches; values below 1 km/h are force 0.

Scope and privacy

This is a unit converter and reference classification only. It does not predict weather or risk. Conversion runs locally and sends no data.

GOOD TO KNOW

Common questions

Are negative values accepted?

No. Wind speed must be a finite value of zero or greater.

How are Beaufort boundaries handled?

Each band includes its lower threshold. For example, 5 km/h is force 2 and 11 km/h is force 3.

Does this predict wind risk?

No. It only converts the entered value and reports its standard Beaufort force.
