Permission stays under your control
This page asks for camera and microphone access only after you select Start camera. Your browser and device settings decide whether access is available. Selecting Stop recording & camera turns off the tracks used by this page; you can also revoke permission in your browser settings.
Local capture with practical boundaries
Video and audio stay on your device. The recorder is limited to 10 minutes and approximately 500 MB to avoid an unexpectedly large in-browser recording; detail, frame rate, browser encoding, and available storage affect the actual file size. The page does not upload, stream, or retain clips after you close or refresh it.
Browser support and file format
This tool needs a current browser with getUserMedia and MediaRecorder support, usually in a secure HTTPS page or localhost. The browser chooses a supported WebM or MP4 recording format, so the downloaded extension can differ by browser. Some browsers or devices expose only one camera or microphone, and private browsing or enterprise policies can block capture.

Does this upload my camera or microphone recording?
No. The preview, recording buffer, and download are handled in your browser. This page has no upload or server storage path for the clip.
Why does the browser ask for permission?
Camera and microphone hardware is protected by the browser. Select Start camera first, then allow the prompt only if you want this page to access the selected devices.
How long can I record?
Choose one, five, or ten minutes. The recorder also stops when the collected clip reaches about 500 MB, which can happen earlier at a high camera bitrate.
Why can’t I start the camera?
Use HTTPS or localhost, check that another application is not using the device, and review browser-level camera and microphone permissions. A managed device or private-browsing policy can also block access.
