Official candidates, not guaranteed files
YouTube may omit a size, replace artwork, restrict access by region, or return a placeholder or error. maxresdefault is not available for every video; inspect the preview before saving. The browser may block a cross-origin download attribute, in which case open the image and use Save Image.
Access, copyright, and service limits
This tool does not bypass sign-in, age, geographic, rate, robots, or other access controls, and it does not download through a server. Use thumbnails only when you have permission and follow YouTube terms, creator rights, and applicable law. Network requests happen only when your browser loads a candidate preview or you open its link.

Does this download from YouTube’s servers?
The page creates public i.ytimg.com candidate links locally. Your browser may request an image when you preview or open it; no Hello Keyboard Tools server fetches, stores, or proxies the image.
Why is a thumbnail blank or a placeholder?
That candidate size may not exist, may be restricted by network or region, or may be a YouTube placeholder. Try another candidate and check the opened image directly.
Can I use any thumbnail commercially?
No. A public URL does not grant reuse rights. Confirm permission from the rights holder and comply with YouTube terms and applicable copyright law.
