Calculate Binary Bitwise NOR
Enter two binary bit strings and an output width to calculate the width-limited NOR result locally.
A QUICK WALKTHROUGH
How to use this tool
- Enter non-empty strings containing only 0 and 1.
- Choose an output width at least as wide as both operands; shorter operands are padded with leading zeroes.
- Calculate to read the exact fixed-width NOR result.
Explicit output width
The width must be at least the longer operand and may be up to 10,000 bits. Both operands are left-padded with zeroes before NOR is applied, and the result always has exactly that width.
Bitwise NOR
NOR sets a bit to 1 only when both corresponding input bits are 0. It is calculated as the width-limited complement of A OR B.
Local validation
Validation and calculation run in your browser. Inputs are not uploaded or stored.
GOOD TO KNOW
Common questions
Can the output be wider than both inputs?
Yes. Enter any width from the longer input length through 10,000 bits; the extra high bits are zero-padded before NOR.
Are spaces, signs, or 0b prefixes accepted?
No. Each operand must contain only 0 and 1.
Why is the width required?
A complement needs a finite bit boundary. The chosen width makes every leading zero and output bit explicit.
