Canonical checker

Paste HTML or enter both URLs. Up to 500,000 source characters and 10,000 elements. No URLs are fetched; placement is based on the browser’s parsed HTML.

Pasted HTML is parsed in inert template storage; pasted resources are not loaded. Placement checks use explicit head/body wrappers in the source. Include those wrappers when pasting a fragment.

Ready for local analysis.

A QUICK WALKTHROUGH

How to use this tool

  1. Paste HTML, or fill both URL fields for manual analysis.
  2. Analyze the canonical URL and review errors, placement and consistency notes.
  3. Confirm the preferred URL and copy the suggested tag into the page head.

Local source inspection

HTML mode detects missing and duplicate canonical links, placement in the parsed head or body, URL format and og:url consistency. Manual mode compares the two supplied URLs and cannot verify HTML placement or metadata.

Review URL policy

Checks cover HTTPS, trailing slashes, query parameters, fragments, self-reference, host and protocol differences, length and encoding. These are syntax and policy hints, not indexing guarantees. No redirects, HTTP responses, robots rules or target availability are checked. Input is limited to 500,000 source characters, 10,000 parsed elements and 8,192 characters per URL.

GOOD TO KNOW

Common questions

Does this visit my page?

No. Paste its source yourself; processing stays in your browser.

Is a cross-domain canonical always wrong?

No. Confirm that the chosen relationship and preferred page are intentional.
