A QUICK WALKTHROUGH
How to use this tool
- Enter text to inspect each Unicode code point.
- Review the character, decimal value, U+ notation, UTF-8 byte count, and UTF-16 code units.
- Use the reverse converter for a valid hexadecimal or decimal code point.
ASCII is a small Unicode range
ASCII applies only to code points U+0000 through U+007F. Every ASCII character is Unicode, but most Unicode characters are not ASCII.
Code points, not UTF-16 halves
The converter iterates Unicode code points. Supplementary characters such as emoji are shown once and report two UTF-16 code units.
Local and bounded
Everything runs in your browser. Input is limited to 100 KiB and invalid, surrogate, or out-of-range code points are rejected.
GOOD TO KNOW
Common questions
What does ASCII mean here?
ASCII is available only for U+0000–U+007F. Other characters are clearly labeled Unicode.
Why can UTF-16 use two code units?
Code points above U+FFFF are represented by a surrogate pair in UTF-16, which uses two 16-bit code units.
Can I enter a code point in reverse?
Yes. Enter hex such as 1F600 or decimal such as 128512. Surrogates and values above U+10FFFF are rejected.
Is my text uploaded?
No. Conversion is performed locally in your browser.
