Character Count Per Line Checker
Paste text, set the maximum characters allowed per line, and get a line-by-line report without uploading your content.
A QUICK WALKTHROUGH
How to use this tool
- Paste or type up to 100,000 UTF-16 characters.
- Set the maximum number of Unicode code points allowed on each line.
- Check the line-by-line counts and identify any lines over the limit.
One limit for every line
The checker applies the same whole-number limit to every line and reports each line’s Unicode code-point count. Empty lines count as zero characters, and a final line after a trailing line break is included.
Line endings stay local and separate
LF, CRLF, and CR are treated as line separators. The checker does not parse subtitle files, estimate speaking time, or upload pasted text; it only reports the character count for the text currently in your browser.
GOOD TO KNOW
Common questions
What counts as a character?
This tool counts Unicode code points, matching the character definition used by the site’s word counter. A visible emoji or grapheme can contain more than one code point.
Are spaces counted?
Yes. Every code point on a line, including spaces and punctuation, is counted.
Are line endings counted?
No. LF, CRLF, and CR separate lines and are not included in either line’s count.
Does this upload my text?
No. Counting runs locally in your browser.
