Comma to Column
Paste comma-separated plain text to create a vertical column while preserving empty items.
A QUICK WALKTHROUGH
How to use this tool
- Paste up to 100,000 characters of plain text.
- Split on each literal comma; empty items are kept and fields are not parsed as RFC CSV.
- Review, copy, or download the resulting column.
Literal comma splitting
This tool treats every comma as a separator and preserves empty fields, including leading, trailing, and consecutive empty items. It does not implement RFC CSV quoting or escaped commas unless a separate source contract requires it.
Local and bounded
The conversion runs in this browser without upload or storage. Input is limited to 100,000 characters and 50,000 comma-separated items; output is limited to 500,000 characters.
GOOD TO KNOW
Common questions
Are quoted CSV fields parsed?
No. This is a plain-text comma splitter, not an RFC CSV parser. Quotes remain part of the text.
Are empty items kept?
Yes. Leading, trailing, and consecutive commas create empty output lines.
Is my text uploaded?
No. Splitting and output generation happen locally in your browser.
