Data Centre Cooling Load Calculator

Estimate sensible heat load and an idealized air volume flow from user-entered IT power, additional heat, air properties, and temperature rise.

In-browser processingNo account requiredPrivacy details ↗

Sensible heat only; no equipment sizing. Flow = Q ÷ (density × cp × temperature rise), with unit conversion to CFM.

A QUICK WALKTHROUGH

How to use this tool

  1. Enter IT power and any additional sensible heat.
  2. Enter air specific heat, density, and the allowed temperature rise.
  3. Review estimated heat load and idealized air volume flow with the model limits.

Method and scope

This is a sensible-heat estimate using Q = mass flow × specific heat × temperature rise, with volume flow = mass flow ÷ density. It excludes humidity, hotspots, airflow distribution, and equipment selection.

GOOD TO KNOW

Common questions

Does this recommend cooling equipment?

No. It estimates sensible heat and idealized air flow from your inputs only.

Does it include humidity or hotspots?

No. The calculation excludes latent heat, local hotspots, and airflow distribution.

Can I use this as a design approval?

No. It is a simplified estimate and does not select equipment or establish a facility design.
